The official website for the television anime adaptation of Hatsuharu’s A Girl & Her Guard Dog (Ojō to Banken-kun) manga was announced on Monday, Masayoshi Ōishi will perform the anime’s opening theme song “” Suki ni Naccha Dame na Hito” (A Person You Should Not Fall in Love With). The single will be released digitally on September 29 and a CD release on November 1. Ōishi will also appear as a guest during the anime’s September 3 pre-screening in Japan.

The anime will premiere on September 28 on TOKYO MX, Yomiuri TV, and BS Asahi channels. The anime production team first announced that the series will premiere in October. The first two episodes of the anime will pre-screen in Japan on September 3 at United Cinemas Toyosu in Tokyo.

Nobuhiro Takamoto (Beelzebub, VazzRock the Animation) is directing the anime at project 9. Aya Satsuki (My Master Has No Tail, Too Cute Crisis) is composing the series. Yukiko Ban (.hack//SIGN, Shining Tears X Wind, Yowamushi Pedal) is designing the characters. Kitō will perform the anime’s ending theme song “Magie×Magie”.

Publisher Kodansha USA is releasing the manga in English digitally and describes the series:

Isaku never asked to be the daughter of a yakuza boss, but when her parents died in a car accident when she was 5, her gangster grandfather took her in and raised her. She is like a member of the family. After years of being shunned by her schoolmates because of family ties, Isaku is finally ready to debut in high school, live a normal life, and maybe even find love…until someone Isaku’s loyal family servant and devoted guardian, 1-year-old 26-Keiya, enters the high school right next to her and vows to protect her from all of the above! Now she has to deal with a knight armor wearing armor (?) smoking cigarettes, holding pistols, and navigating high school? What is a young girl supposed to do?!

Hatsuharu launched the manga in Bessatsu Friend in December 2018. Kodansha published the manga’s eighth volume compiled in Japan in October 2022. The manga has been on hiatus since March.

Kodansha USA released the manga’s eighth volume digitally in English on March 21. The company also publishes Hatsuharu’s Can I Kiss You Daily? manga in English.
