Tatsuki Fujimoto's animation 'Look Back' releases trailer, theme song and other staff

Avex began streaming the full trailer for the anime film based on the one-shot manga “Look Back” by Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto on Wednesday. The trailer introduces the film's theme “Soft Song” by composer Haruka Nakamura and singer Urara, and the film project lists additional staff.

The newly announced hires are:

Kiyotaka Oshiyama (Flip Flappers) will direct the anime, and is also responsible for the script and character designs. Oshiyama's Durian Studio is producing.

Yūmi Kawai and Mizuki Yoshida star in the film.

Fujimoto launched the one-shot manga on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ in July 2021. The manga had over 2.5 million views on its first day of release. Viz Media and MANGA Plus launched the manga digitally in English. Viz Media published the manga in print in September 2022. The company describes the story:

The manga won the first Rakuten Kobo eBook Award in May 2023 and was ranked #1 in the 2022 edition of Takarajimasha's Kono Manga ga Sugoi! Manual (This manga is amazing!) It was also nominated for the Will Eisner Comic Industry Award last year and placed second at the 15th Manga Taisho awards.

Fujimoto (Fire Punch) launched the Chainsaw Man manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in December 2018 and ended the “first part”, the “Kōan” (Public Safety) arc, in December 2020. The second part of the manga , titled “Gakkō-hen”(School Part), began on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ service in July 2022. The manga has won Best Manga at The Harvey Awards for the past three years.

The manga inspired an anime that premiered on TV Tokyo and five other affiliated channels, as well as on Amazon Prime Video in October 2022. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime in over 200 countries and territories In the world. The series is getting an anime film adaptation of the manga's “Reze-hen” (Reze Arc) titled Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc.
