YOASOBI performs the theme song of the new Monogatari anime

The mystery behind the cryptic letter 'Y' appeared on the anime's official website Monogatari new has been revealed. The website confirmed on May 2, 2024 that Y represents none other than Japanese pop duo YOASOBI, who will be responsible for performing the theme song of Monogatari Series Off & Monster Season.

The theme song is titled 'UNDEAD'.

In a statement provided by YOASOBI, composer Ayase expressed deep enthusiasm, saying: “'Monogatari Series' holds a special place in my heart, so much so that I have always considered it my favorite anime mine. When I got the chance to contribute to its latest installment, I was really excited. I poured my love for the series and each character into the song, with every fiber of my being. Thank you all for your support.”

Singer ikura echoed Ayase's sentiments, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of such a beloved brand. “It's an honor to be a part of the latest installment of a series like 'Monogatari', which has been loved by so many for so long. I sing while carefully interpreting the emotions of each character in this work. I will be happy if you enjoy listening to it.“

Monogatari Series Off & Monster Seasonscheduled for release in 2024.

Monogatari is a Japanese light novel series written by Nisio Isin and illustrated by Vofan. As of November 2006, Kodansha has published 29 volumes of the series under the Kodansha Box imprint. All of the series' storylines share the title suffix-monogatari.

Shaft has animated the Monogatari series several times since 2009. The first season of the anime adaptation consists of 30 episodes, which aired in Japan from July 2009 to December 2012. The second season covers consists of 28 episodes that aired from July to December 2013, while the third and final season consists of 42 episodes that aired from December 2014 to June 2019. Prequel anime trilogy, Kizumonogatarireleased in 2016 and 2017.

A manga adaptation, illustrated by Oh! awesome and titled Bakemonogataribegan serialization in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in March 2018 and ended in March 2023.
