Naruto: Can Sasuke prevent Neji's death?

in Manga

The Fourth Great Shinobi War is one of the most brutal battles in Naruto Shippuden. Among all the people who sacrificed their lives in the war, there was one person who was Hinata Hyuga's older brother Neji Hyuga.

Naruto: Can Sasuke prevent Neji's death?

The war was initiated by Obito Sasuke, or Tobi, the mastermind behind Akatsuki. With Kobuto's help, Tobi was able to revive Madara Madara to fight against the Five Great Ninja Nations and the samurai nation of the Land of Iron. All the shinobi from these lands banded together to fight Tobi's plot, but Madara and Tobi were still able to wreak havoc with the help of the Ten-Tails they controlled.

Some fans believe that Sasuke has the power to prevent Neji's death

Neji Hyuga, one of the greatest prodigal shinobi to fight in the war sacrificed his life to save Naruto. He died on the battlefield after being impaled by the wooden beams he was trying to shield Naruto from. His death was one of the heaviest losses of the war.

In the world of Naruto, there are the Three Great Eyes Technique, Sharingan, Byakugan and Rinnegan. Rinnegan users can be identified by the concentric circles covering their eyeballs. Sasuke was able to awaken his Rinnegan after receiving half of Hagoromo Otsutsuki's chakra during his battle with Kaguya. With this technique, he was able to access all of the Six Paths Techniques, which technically gave him the power to open the Naraka Path and awaken the King of Hell.

The Naraka Path grants the user the ability to store someone's soul into the body of the King of Hell after removing it from the original body through the Human Path. Technically, this would allow them to transport the person's soul to another place and revive them later. Since Sasuke awakened his Rinnegan before the battle, some people are inclined to think that he could have used this power to save the lives of Neji and many others who tragically lost their lives during the war.

Sasuke was unable to save Neji

Despite its immense power, the Rinnegan is extremely complex to fully unravel and master. No other Rinnegan user after Nagato has been able to open all of the Six Paths. Because Sasuke only awakens his Rinnegan during war, he cannot control and master its full power without proper training in such a short time. Furthermore, as we saw in Rinne's Resurrection, opening the Naraka Path drains so much energy from the user's body that they will lose their life trying to awaken others.

When Neji died on the battlefield, Sasuke wasn't even there because he was busy planning tactics elsewhere. Sasuke was not responsible in any way for Neji's death, nor did he have much of a personal connection to Neji that inspired him to risk his life to save others.

He was very sad when he heard about Neji's death after the war ended. But it was physically impossible to save Neji from the fate that had befallen him. Although Neji's death was extremely sad, especially for his sister Hinata and Naruto, it could not be prevented because he gave up his life to save Naruto.
