Aniplex releases sneak peek footage of the animated movie “Trapezium”

On Wednesday, Aniplex released the first three minutes and 44 seconds of the upcoming anime adaptation of Kazumi Takayama's novel “Trapezium.” The preview includes the theme song “Nanmonai feat. Hoshimachi Suisei, sakuma,” performed by VTuber Hoshimachi Suisei with music by MAISONdes.

Scheduled to premiere in Japan on May 10, the film features a song titled “Hōi Jishin” (Direction Itself), performed by cast members Asaki Yuikawa, Hina Yomiya, Reina Ueda and Haruka Aikawa. Takayama, the author of the original novel, wrote the lyrics for this song, which also appears in the novel itself.

Masaru Yokoyama, the film's composer, composed the melody. Additionally, the cast will contribute another song to the film titled “Naritai Jibun” (I Want to Be).

The novel revolves around Yū Higashi, a high school girl who has aspired to become an idol for ten years. To pursue her dream, she sets four rules for herself: stay away from social networks, limit dating, integrate into school, and make friends with girls from the North, South, East, and West. Fits her beauty criteria.

Aniplex reveals cast and staff for anime adaptation of “Trapezium”

In the film, Asaki Yuikawa takes on the role of main character Yū Higashi, while Hina Yomiya voices Kurumi Taiga, known as “Western Star”. Reina Ueda plays Ranko Katori, “Southern Star” and Haruka Aikawa plays Mika Kamei, “Northern Star”, Yū Higashi's old classmate from elementary school.

Masahiro Shinohara directed the film at CloverWorks, with supervision from Koji Masunari. Yuuko Kakihara wrote the script, Rio designed the characters, and Masaru Yokoyama handled the music. Aniplex will handle distribution.

Takayama, a former first-generation member of idol group Nogizaka46, serialized “Trapezium” in Kadokawa Media Factory's manga and book news magazine Da Vinci from 2016 to 2018. The novel was published by Kadokawa published in November 2018.
